About citrus heights 4-H citrus heights 4-H club was taken over by it's Current leader Lisa in 2004 and we had no members no leaders and no club really. since then we have attempted to rebuild the club we still don't have as many people as many other clubs but we are working on it. we mostly have animal projects our projects for the 08-09 year are pygmy goat, fiber goat, meat goat, dairy goat, sheep, rabbit, and poultry. currently starting our 08-09 year we have about 20 members. Our C.C. meetings are the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 Pm at sylvan community center.
learning through 4-H
4-H is a club for youth ages 5-19 to learn leadership skills, life skills, organizing/planning skills, community skills, communication skills as well as individual project skills. younger kids learn simple skills like responsibility, listening skills as well as project skills. While the older kids have leadership, planning/organizing oppurtunities as well as their general project skills.
- The older youth learn leadership skills through officers teams that work together to plan meeting, their are also leadership conferences and other leadership activities on club, county, state and national levels. Also on the officers team they each have different jobs so learn different job skills.
- Life skills the Kids learn great life skills responsibility, organization, team work, and all sorts of great skills that will help them throught their life. through their projects
- The kids plan all 4-H meetings, events, fundraiser and community service activities. We form committees with committee members a commitee chair and an adult chaperone we have meetings and work together to plan the event and then we give a reveiw afterword on how we can do better next event and on what was good about this event.
- Project skills each member is also involved in a 4-H project in citrus heights 4-H we mainly have animal projects like sheep, rabbit, swine, goat (all types), and poultry we also have a leadership and developement project. Not all 4H projects are animal related their are projects like cooking, sewing, arts and crafts, computers, on the wild side (outdorr adventure), HI 4-H (fun activities with other 4-H kids), rocketry and other great projects whatever your interest is 4-H probably has a project you would like. In our animal projects the members learn not only about the animals but about responsibility, and even in some projects about the job, and livestock industries in which your project involves.
